Yes. Smart Directory Pro is bring-your-own-key (BYOK) for AI features. During the setup wizard you connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini API key. All AI features (search embeddings, description generation, FAQ generation, SEO audits) run on your key, so you control AI cost and data privacy directly. There is no managed AI middleware between your site and the provider.

Smart Directory Pro requires WordPress 6.0 or newer and PHP 8.0 or newer. It is tested with the current major WordPress release and the previous two majors. It runs on standard shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting (WP Engine, Kinsta, Cloudways), and self-hosted environments. No special server modules are required.

Yes. Smart Directory Pro supports CSV and JSON imports with chunked uploads up to 10MB. The importer auto-recognises common column names (Name, Email, Phone, Address, Category) without manual mapping. Listings from competing plugins like Business Directory Plugin, GeoDirectory, and Connections Business Directory can be migrated. Exports from Google Places, Yelp, and scraping tools work the same way. AI enrichment runs per row on import at roughly 47,000 listings per hour using the Gemini Batch API on larger jobs.

Smart Directory Pro offers a 14-day refund policy with no questions asked. To request a refund, email hello@smartdirectorypro.com within 14 days of purchase with your licence key. Refunds are processed to the original payment method (Stripe or PayPal) within 5 business days.

Yes. Annual licences auto-renew at the same price unless you disable auto-renew from the My Account dashboard. Auto-renewal ensures you continue receiving plugin updates, security patches, and new feature releases. Disabling auto-renew keeps your sites running until the licence expiry date, at which point AI features pause until the licence is reactivated.

All tiers include email support at hello@smartdirectorypro.com. Pro and Agency tiers receive priority support with same-business-day response targets. Agency tier additionally includes a one-on-one onboarding call with the team. Support tickets are tracked in the Smart Directory Pro Support Tickets system with reference numbers and email replies.

No. Every tier of Smart Directory Pro supports an unlimited number of business listings per site, with no per-listing fees, no per-feature paywalls, and no per-category limits. The only variable between tiers is how many WordPress installations the licence covers.

Yes, both. Smart Directory Pro ships five native Gutenberg blocks (Listing Grid, Listing Search, Listing Map, Category Grid, Single Listing) and six Elementor widgets covering the same surfaces plus a public Submission Form widget. The Elementor widgets are gated by `did_action('elementor/loaded')` so they only load when Elementor is active. Sites without Elementor get zero overhead.

Yes, via the Easy Digital Downloads integration. Configure your products (SEO audit, monthly retainer, featured listing upgrade) as EDD downloads. When a business claims their listing or is selected for outbound pitching, you send a one-click checkout link from the listing admin. Successful EDD purchases auto-upgrade the listing to Pro status with featured placement and a verified badge. Refunds via EDD automatically revoke Pro status.

The AI SEO Audit Engine runs SEO probes against any listing in your directory, claimed or unclaimed. It validates JSON-LD structured data, scores on-page signals (title length, meta description length, H1 presence, image alt coverage, internal link count), and produces a 0-100 composite AuditScore. The score is visible in the listing admin to you, and in the dashboard to claimed owners. You can pitch any listing the audit covers, turning audit gaps into SEO retainer revenue via the EDD integration. The audit re-runs automatically when a listing is edited.

Smart Directory Pro uses Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) for its commerce flows, not WooCommerce. EDD is the chosen integration because of its simpler checkout for digital and service products, its native licence-key management, and its lighter footprint. WooCommerce can be installed alongside Smart Directory Pro without conflict, but it is not wired into the package-selling or licence flows.

Yes. Basic covers one WordPress site, Pro covers five, and Agency covers an unlimited number. Each site has its own database, branding, listings, custom field schema, and AI provider keys. Licence keys are bound to your Smart Directory Pro account, and active site counts are tracked centrally in the admin so you always know how many installs you have left.

About five minutes for a basic install. The setup wizard runs seven steps: Welcome, Directory Type, AI Setup, Location, Design, Import, Done. Each step writes real configuration to wp_options. By the time you reach the final step you have a populated directory at your chosen URL, the AI provider connected and live-tested, your initial listings imported from CSV, and the design themed to your colours and fonts. You can re-launch the wizard from Settings at any time without losing data.
